I purchased studio 17 because I bought a new computer windows 8 I had used Pinnacle studio 11 in my old computer and it was first class. The first disc would not load into the new computer After many attempts I returned it to Amazon for replacement. The second Program Loaded bot would not recognise my cannon cameras. After importing from a roundabout way I was able to start editing to find that the sound and video were out of synchronization. Phoned Pinnacle again and after a long conversation were no help at all.
Returned it to Amazon for full refund. Full Marks To Amazon 5 Stars. I thought PS 15 was very usable and easy to learn – much like all the others; but this latest version from Corel is hopeless.
Not only is it unnecessarily complex, it is visually poor. For example, when you click on a clip to highlight it, you have to strain to see the coloured line surrounding the clip to verify that it has been selected. To delete a gap in the timeline video clips on earlier versions was easy – right click on the gap and select delete and all clips to the right would move left to replace the gap.
On PS 17, it involves alt-ctrl keys and click-dragging etc that makes it all a pain. I could go on for hours. Believe me, I am working hard to get to grips with it, but I think I will cut my losses and try some other package. Pinnacle Studio; never again. Having used and owned numerous versions of Pinnacle Studio over the years I can say that Studio 17 is without doubt the worst. I dont know this is the fact that its now owned by Coral as oppossed to Avid. I’m not going to claim that everything was perfect in the other versions, although Studio 15 HD was pretty good.
Pat versions were often glitchy and prone to crashing until Pinnacle released its numerous patches. However, what Studio had in there favour was pure simplicity of use, coupled with extensive functionality. What we have now is a system that has a bit more functionality but requires you to be a rocket scientist to use it. No longer the tool for this enthuisiastic amature. So long Pinnacle I’m going to have to find another product or reload my old Studio I tried to contact Corel with the phone number they provided for technical help “free” for the first 14 days only to find that the line was unobtainable.
I updated from Studio 15 because of crashing difficulties, so this is very disappointing. I have used pinnacle products for over 25 year s and always found them to be excellent, but on this occasion I was let down, because even though I looked at the requirements to run the programme and both my systems were above the spec needed the programme would not run properly, The problems are listed below, 1 Integrated software would pop up each time you ran the programme which was annoying.

Changing a value creates a new keyframe. The active keyframe in the Effects Editor does not “glow” in Pinnacle Studio v. You have to look at the keyframe icon to see whether the cursor is aligned directly over the keyframe. I can’t get the speed function in Pinnacle Studio 16 to work. It works in the earlier products. I think this is a usability issue. I did get it to work later but the controls are different. If the frame for a title extends off the screen, a multi-line title may show entirely on the screen when editing, but extend off the screen instead when exporting the project.
Checked It isn’t possible to remove the display from the second monitor when the program is in Export mode — when that display is in any case frozen and useless. You must complete or abort the export and return to movie mode to clear the second monitor. Sometimes the record-playback head gets stuck so that if you move it to a new time and then try to start play, it instead only just jumps back to its earlier location.
You may have to save, close and reopen the project to restore function. In both Pinnacle 15 and Pinnacle 16, sometimes there is a gaps in the audio when audio is detached from video and butting one part of an audio clip up against another. Workaround: place one of the audio clips in a different track. If you display a video source clip on the second monitor, and you have also put the timeline display on that monitor, your icon in the upper right of the small display only switches between these two displays on the second monitor.
To clear the second monitor, you must switch to a resource which displays in its own window, such as an audio clip, or click on “source” above the preview window.
The exported file will have a long number as its name. Sometimes it will play and sometimes not. You may have to change the file extension to the one you intended.
I find that this happens when a Scorefitter track extends past the last video in a project. Placing a blank title at the end, extending past the end of the audio, has solved thsi problem for me.

The “apply” step does let you save more than one Snapshot in an Effects Editor session. Click on OK to exit the Effects Editor.
Press the Delete key, or click on Delete in a right-click menu. This is faster than using two Undo steps. In Avid Studio, or Pinnacle v.
